A Decade of Education Experience

Employer:
The Department of Education
Roles:
Generalist and STEM Specialist Primary Teacher

I have been passionately involved in education since 2010, beginning my journey as an Assistant English Language teacher in Spain (see left), going on to work as both a generalist and a STEM specialist Victorian classrooms, and moving recently into leveraging technology to further education.

I have also applied my knowledge and passion for education within the tech startup sphere, as Head of Founder Success at Pitch Venture Capital and began my own Edtech Startup, Moonrise Education. These experiences have given me a unique blend of skills that transition naturally into design & development.

Planning content delivery for Moonrise required a rigorous approach to information architecture, and adapting lessons to an online environment during remote learning sharpened my instructional design capabilities—both of which now inform how I structure user experiences. In the classroom, I honed my talent for communicating information in effective and ingenious ways, from interactive digital resources to problem-based lessons. These same creative problem-solving techniques and user-centered principles are what guide my work in tech today.

Relevant Skills

EdTech & Instructional Design

  • I leveraged my teaching background to create and refine digital learning tools, including an app that merged synthetic phonics, read-aloud sessions, and interactive activities.
  • By applying the same principles of content structuring and user engagement, I’ve successfully adapted these methods in non-traditional settings, ensuring effective and inclusive learning experiences.

Program Development &Delivery

  • I developed multiple sequential learning programs in my time teaching, blending parent and colleagues feedback to iteratively improve programs and create innovative delivery methods.
  • The same user-focused approach and modular lesson design that worked for my students can be applied to any app or platform, ensuring a smooth, engaging experience that resonates with diverse audiences and drives meaningful outcomes.

Information Architecture & Knowledge Management

  • By designing a comprehensive STEM curriculum and building my own phonics program, I honed my ability to structure content in a logical, user-friendly manner while maintaining lean database principles. This approach ensures maximum clarity, easy updates, and a seamless experience for your users.

Adaptive & Engaging Delivery

  • I quickly pivoted to online teaching during remote learning, transforming face-to-face lessons into interactive digital formats. Incorporating inquiry-based learning, explicit teaching, and real-life connections ensured that students remained engaged and saw the relevance of their education—even from home.

Using Research to Iteratively Improve

  • I actively participated in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to identify and address educational, welfare, and cultural needs—constantly refining my teaching methods through data analysis and open dialogue with colleagues.
  • Beyond the classroom, I continued to apply this research-driven approach by gathering stakeholder feedback and making adaptive changes, ensuring every initiative evolved in response to real-world challenges and user needs.

Collaborative & Evidence-Based Approach

  • I consistently analyze data, reflected on outcomes ,and refine delivery methods to ensure the best possible experience. Whether working with existing programs or building the next big app, I remain committed to practical, research-backed solutions that foster growth and engagement for all users.
